Man Arrested for Multiple Sex Crimes Against a Child

Watkinsville, GA (March 31, 2022) – On March 27, 2022, GBI and Eastern Connecticut State University Campus Police arrested Victor Jimenez Pastor, age 22, while on campus. Pastor is charged with Aggravated Child Molestation, Computer Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act, Obscene Internet Contact with a Child, Electronically Furnishing Obscene Material to Minors, and Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes.

Savannah, GA (March 26, 2022) –  The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Savannah, GA. The Savannah Police Department requested that the GBI conduct an independent investigation on March 26, 2022. One man was shot. No officers were injured.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Atlanta

Atlanta, GA (March 31, 2022) - The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting on the campus of Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta. The Atlanta Public Schools Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. One woman was shot during the incident. No students, staff, or officers were injured.  

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Evans County

Evans County, GA (March 30, 2022) - Eason was released from the hospital and charged with 3 counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

Evans County, GA (February 24, 2022) –  The GBI is investigating a shooting incident that led to an officer involved shooting in Evans County, Georgia. The Evans County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at around 8:00 p.m.  Four people were shot.  No officers were injured in this incident. 

The preliminary information indicates that at around 7:30 p.m., Bulloch County 911 received a call about a shooting at 43 Ruffins Rd, Claxton, Georgia. When Evans County deputies arrived, they discovered one man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Additional officers arrived on scene and began to look for the shooter.

GBI Makes Arrest in Sexual Assault Investigation

Douglasville, GA (March 29, 2022) – The GBI has arrested and charged Austin Cole Sluder, 27, of Douglasville, GA, with Violation of Oath of Office by a Public Officer and Improper Sexual Contact. On October 27, 2021, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to investigate allegations of sexual assault by Sluder.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Banks County

Commerce, GA (March 28, 2022) - The man involved in this OIS is identified as Felix Catarino, age 52, of Commerce.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

Commerce, GA (March 24, 2022) –  The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Commerce, Banks County, Georgia. The Banks County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on March 23, 2022. One man was shot and killed in the incident. No deputies were injured in this incident.

The preliminary information indicates that a deputy of the Banks County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service about a man refusing to pay a taxi fare to a local taxi driver.  The deputy arrived at a home at 151 Hebron Court, Commerce, Georgia where he had contact with the taxi driver and with the taxi’s passenger whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin. When the deputy gave the man commands in order to take the man into custody, the man grabbed a metal pipe and advanced towards the deputy, continuing to ignore the deputy’s commands. The deputy fired his gun, hitting the man. EMS provided medical aid, and the man was pronounced dead on the scene. The body of the deceased man will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Once complete, the case file will be given to the Piedmont Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Canton

GBI and Moultrie Police Make Arrest in Double Homicide and Feticide

Moultrie, GA (March 28, 2022) –  On March 25, 2022, Eldriquez Silas, age 19, of Moultrie, GA, was arrested and charged with two counts of Malice Murder, two counts of Felony Murder, one count of Home Invasion, one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and one count of Feticide.

GBI and Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Investigate Child Molestation Allegations

Moultrie, GA (March 26, 2022) –  The GBI is investigating the alleged child molestation of a juvenile that happened during a return trip to Colquitt County after an away school sporting event.  The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the GBI on March 22, 2022, about 8:34 a.m., after they received a report of several separate incidents of child molestation of a student athlete of the Willie J. Williams Middle School.

Two Men Arrested Following a Drug Investigation in Toombs County

Toombs County, GA (March 25, 2022) – On Thursday, March 24, 2022, Jermaine Brown, age 44, and Joshua Brown, age 20, both of Vidalia, were arrested following a joint drug investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Southeastern Regional Drug Enforcement Office (SRDEO), Toombs County Sheriff’s Office, Vidalia Police Department, and United States Marshals Service. During the execution of a search warrant, agents seized two long guns, nine handguns along with ammunition, approx. 4.8 ounces of suspected Methamphetamine/ ICE, 11 ounces of suspected Marijuana, 5 grams of suspected Heroin, 15.1 grams of suspected Cocaine, 5 grams of suspected Crack Cocaine, various types of pills (controlled substances) and drug related paraphernalia.
