Gray, Jones County, GA (August 20, 2026) – The GBI has arrested and charged former Gray Police Department (GPD) officer William Paul Hathaway, age 54, of Gray, GA, with Sexual Battery.

On July 12, 2026, the Gray Police Department requested the GBI to investigate allegations that Hathaway, while off-duty, had inappropriate contact with a child.

Hathaway is no longer employed at GPD.

Hathaway was booked into the Jones County Jail.
