Waycross, GA (August 18, 2022) - A juvenile complaint for involuntary manslaughter has been secured for the juvenile involved in the fight that resulted in the death of another juvenile on August 9, 2022.
Waycross, GA (August 16, 2022) – The GBI has arrested Thomas Lee Hicks, age 30, of Waycross, GA and charged him with one count of murder in the 2nd degree, two counts of cruelty to children in the 2nd degree, and one count of violation of oath of office. Hicks was a juvenile correctional officer in the Waycross RYDC. Information from the GBI investigation revealed that Hicks allowed juveniles to participate in a fight game in his presence. Hicks was arrested this evening, August 16, 2022, and booked into the Ware County Jail.
Albany, GA (August 18, 2022) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Albany, GA. The Albany Police Department requested the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on August 17, 2022. No one was injured during this incident.
LaGrange, GA (August 18, 2022) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in LaGrange, GA. The LaGrange Police Department requested the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on Tuesday, August 17, 2022. One man was shot, and a woman was injured. No officers were injured.
Cedartown, GA (August 17, 2022) – The Cedartown Police Department and the GBI arrested Randy McClarity, Sr., age 57, of Cedartown, and charged him with murder, malice murder, and three counts of aggravated assault on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.
Lavonia, GA (August 16, 2022) – The GBI has arrested and charged Gabrielle Beutler, age 31, of Bowersville, GA, with one count of forgery, two counts of distributing false IDs, and two counts of misrepresentation of veteran status.
Lakeland, GA (August 16, 2022) - Rodarious "Rod" Swanson was arrested in Lowndes County on August 15, 2022 and charged with Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault.
Lakeland, GA (August 10, 2022) – The GBI arrested Travion Snell, age 22, of Douglas, on August 3, 2022, and charged him with Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault in relation to a shooting that happened on June 18, 2022. Shamond Campbell, age 18, of Douglas, was previously arrested for Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault. Campbell and Snell are at the Lowndes County Jail. Rodarious “Rod” Swanson, age 24, is still wanted on the charges of Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault.
West Point, GA (August 16, 2022) – The GBI is investigating alleged misconduct by a West Point Police Department officer. The West Point Police Department requested the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
Buena Vista, GA (August 16, 2022) – The GBI arrested Jose Mezquite Ramirez, age 45, of Marion County, for operating a chop shop, three counts of buying, selling, receiving, concealing, using, possessing, or disposing of motor vehicle or part thereof from which identification has been removed or altered, theft by receiving stolen property - automobile, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Thomasville, GA (August 15, 2022) – On August 3, 2022, the GBI arrested and charged Susan Kuhns, age 47, of Boston, Georgia with eight counts of theft by taking, four counts of financial transaction card fraud, two counts of purchase of a controlled substance, and one count of computer invasion of privacy. The GBI also arrested and charged Justin Kuhns, age 50, of Boston, Georgia with one count of theft by taking.
Union County, GA (August 12, 2022) - The GBI has arrested Dwight Anthony Brown, 64, of Blairsville, GA, and charged him with 3 counts of aggravated assault in connection to a shooting incident at Union County Primary School. Brown was a maintenance employee for the Union County School System.
