Sparta, Hancock County, GA (August 17, 2026) - The GBI is investigating a shooting that occurred on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at a home located in the 2000 block of Beulah Highway in Sparta, Georgia. Five people were injured in the shooting. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to investigate.

Preliminary information indicates that on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at about 2:52 a.m., a caller contacted the Hancock County 911 Center to report that multiple people at a large gathering had been shot by several others at the home.

Five people were taken to a regional hospital for treatment for their injuries. Four of the victims are in stable condition. One victim remains in critical condition.
