East Dublin, GA (January 30, 2023) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in East Dublin, GA. The East Dublin Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on January 30, 2023. One man was shot and one East Dublin Police Department officer was shot. Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Our thoughts are with the family of Tyre Nichols, who died at the hands of officers in Memphis, TN.

Being sworn to uphold the law comes with great responsibility. Law enforcement officers operating outside the law must be held accountable for their actions. Trust between law enforcement & our communities is invaluable. The egregious actions of these officers seriously undermine efforts to strengthen police and community relationships.

Sugar Valley, Gordon County, GA (January 24, 2022) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Sugar Valley, GA. The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on January 24, 2023. One man was shot and killed. No officers were injured during the incident.

UPDATE:

Pearson, GA (January 23, 2023) – Roderick Hillman, 18, of Douglas, was arrested in Alma, GA, by the GBI, with the assistance of the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office and the Alma Police Department. Hillman had been charged in June 2022 with Armed Robbery related to home invasions that had occurred in Atkinson County. Hillman was also wanted on unrelated warrants in Douglas, GA, and Sanford, FL. Hillman was taken to the Coffee County Jail.

The GBI had also previously arrested Isaiah Wright, 18, of Douglas, for Armed Robbery related to the same incidents, in addition to Ashley Hamilton and Mica’enya Jordan.

Pearson, GA (June 17, 2022) – The GBI has arrested and charged Ashton Hamilton, 18, of Pearson, GA, with Armed Robbery and Mica’enya Jordan, 19, of Douglas, GA, with Criminal Attempt to Commit Armed Robbery. Roderick Hillman, 17, of Douglas, GA, was also charged with Armed Robbery and is wanted. On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, the Pearson Police Department requested the GBI investigate numerous armed robberies that had occurred over the course of at least a month.

Doraville, GA (January 19, 2023) –  The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Doraville, GA. The Doraville Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on January 19, 2023. One man was shot and has sustained injuries. No officers were injured during the incident. 

Jasper, GA (January 17, 2023) – On Friday, January 6, 2023, Terry Lee Pixley Jr, age 25, of Pickens County, GA, was arrested and charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of children, by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. Two counts were for possession and two counts were for distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). The GBI CEACC Unit began an investigation into Pixley’s online activity after receiving a cybertipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the possible online production, possession, and distribution of CSAM. During the investigation, it was determined that Pixley might have moved to North Carolina. With the assistance of the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), new leads were generated and revealed that Pixley was possibly back in Georgia. Pixley was found at a home in Jasper, GA and arrested. Pixley was taken to the Pickens County Jail.

Jonesboro, GA (January 17, 2023) – On Friday, January 6, 2023, Miles Butler, age 43, of Clayton County, GA, was arrested and charged with seven counts (two counts of distribution and five counts of possession) of Sexual Exploitation of Children by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. The GBI CEACC Unit began an investigation into Butler’s online activity after receiving a cybertipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the possible online possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. This investigation led to a search warrant of Butler’s home and his subsequent arrest. The GBI CEACC Unit was aided in the execution of this search warrant by the Clayton County Police Department and United States Probation Office. Butler was taken to the Clayton County Jail.

Snellville, GA (January 16, 2023) –  The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Snellville, GA. The Snellville Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on January 16, 2023. One man was shot and has non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured in this incident.

Colbert, GA (January 13, 2023) – On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, Jasper Robert Andre, age 80, of Oglethorpe County, Georgia, was arrested and charged with two counts of Distribution of Child Pornography, three counts of Possession of Child Pornography, and one count of Criminal Attempt to Possess Child Pornography by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. This arrest was the result of an investigation into Andre’s online activity conducted by the GBI CEACC Unit. An investigation into Andre’s online activity began after the GBI received a cybertip report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the possible online possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. This investigation led to a search of Andre’s residence and his subsequent arrest. The search of Andre’s home was conducted by the GBI and the Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office. Andre was taken to the Oglethorpe County Jail upon his arrest.

Hoschton, GA (January 13, 2023) – On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, Patrick John Agnew, age 58, of Jackson County, GA, was arrested and charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of children by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. This arrest was the result of an investigation into Agnew’s online activity conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Gainesville Office and the GBI. An investigation into Agnew’s online activity began after the FBI received a cybertip report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the possible online possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.  This investigation led to a search of Agnew’s residence and his subsequent arrest.  The search of Agnew’s home was conducted by the FBI Gainesville Office, the GBI CEACC Unit and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Agnew was taken to the Jackson County Jail upon his arrest.
