Bryant, AL Man Arrested for Rossville, GA Murder

Rossville, GA (November 25, 2020) – On Tuesday, November 24, 2020, Joseph Edward Hart, 40, of Bryant, Alabama, was arrested by authorities from the Jackson County (AL) Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation. Hart was charged with Murder as a result of an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region One Calhoun Office and the Rossville Police Department.

Child Sex Trafficking and Gang Investigation Nets 8 Arrests in Albany, GA

After a year-long joint investigation, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested 8 people in Albany, GA on charges of child sex trafficking and violation of the gang statute.   This investigation was a coordinated effort involving the GBI’S Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit, the GBI’s Southwestern Regional Drug Enforcement Office, the Attorney General’s Office, and the Albany Police Department. 

On October 23, 2019, the Albany Police Department requested the investigative assistance of the GBI CEACC Unit regarding the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC), also known as child sex trafficking. 

“Operation Overhead” Nets 2 Arrests in Coffee County

Douglas, GA (November 20, 2020) – On Friday, November 20, 2020, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s (GBI) Regional Office in Douglas, GA arrested 2 individuals in “Operation Overhead.”

“Operation Overhead” was initiated by the GBI on Thursday, October 1, 2020 to target gang related crimes occurring in the Amberwood Apartments in Douglas, Coffee County, Georgia.  Agents received information about violent crime and gang activity from the public, the Douglas Police Department, and the Department of Community Supervision (DCS).  GBI gang specialists, Douglas Police Department drug investigators, and DCS officers conducted investigative acts that led investigators to document Bloods, Crips, and Gangster Disciples gang activity in the Amberwood Apartments.

As a result of the investigative acts, GBI regional offices in Douglas and Thomasville, the GBI Gang Task Force, the Douglas Police Department, DCS, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources, and the Georgia Department of Corrections initiated searches for wanted persons in apartments located in the Amberwood Apartments complex.  

Crisp County High School Teacher Arrested for Sexual Assault

Dooly County, GA (November 19, 2020) – On Thursday, November 19, 2020, the GBI arrested David Lamberth, 42. Lamberth was charged with one count of Sexual Assault that occurred in Dooly County. He was booked into the Dooly County Jail.

Georgia Man Indicted on 31 Counts of Child Molestation Linked to Tennessee

Commerce, GA – On October 20, 2020, Steven “Mike” Michael Blackmon, age 56, was indicted on 31 counts relating to various child molestation charges in Commerce, Jackson County, Georgia.  “Mike” is currently in custody at the Gwinnett County Jail for these charges.  This investigation is being conducted by the Commerce Police Department in conjunction with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). 

GBI Makes Arrest in Grady County Shooting Death

Grady County, GA (November 16, 2020) - On Saturday, November 14, 2020, at approximately 6:00 a.m., Pascal Reddick, 37, was arrested and charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Reddick was arrested for the shooting death of Antavius Robinson, 39.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Atlanta

On Sunday, November 15, 2020, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Atlanta Police Department (APD) to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 4:06 a.m., a confrontation between several males occurred outside of a nightclub located at 150 Pine Street NE which led to shots being fired.  An off-duty APD officer intervened and also fired his service weapon.  During the incident, Frederick Demor Asberry, 25, of Douglasville, was shot and killed.  An autopsy will be performed by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Clayton County Man Arrested for the Sexual Exploitation of Children

Clayton County, GA (November 13, 2020) – On Thursday, November 12, 2020, Clayton County resident, Tyler Harris, 19, was arrested and was charged with one count of Sexual Exploitation of Children (Possession of Child Pornography) by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. An investigation into Harris’ internet activity began after a report was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) related to the online sharing of child pornography via the internet. This investigation led to a search warrant executed at Harris’ residence in Clayton County, GA, and subsequently Harris’ arrest. The GBI was assisted in the execution of the search warrant at Harris’ home by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Squad and the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office Panther Unit. 

Cobb County Man Arrested for Making Terroristic Threats

Marietta, GA (November 13, 2020) – On Monday, November 9, 2020, Kyle Lussier, 47, of Marietta, GA, was arrested and charged with Terroristic Threats and Acts. The arrest was made with assistance from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation revealed that Lussier had threatened to physically harm an employee of the State of Georgia Secretary of State’s Office after learning that his application for a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) had been denied. Lussier was booked into the Cobb County Jail.

Clarke County Man Arrested for the Sexual Exploitation of Children

Clarke County, GA (November 13, 2020) – On Tuesday, November 11, 2020, Richard Nathanial Wood, 42, was arrested in Madison County, GA and was charged with five counts of Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. An investigation into Wood’s internet activity began after information was received by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The case was worked together by the Athens Office of the FBI and the GBI’s CEACC Unit. The investigation determined Wood had been having graphic sexual conversations with children online and ultimately led to Wood’s arrest. Wood was booked into the Athens-Clarke County Jail.
