Gainesville, GA (January 14, 2020) – On Tuesday, January 14, 2020, the GBI was requested by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an officer involved shooting investigation.

Sylvester, GA (January 13, 2020) – On January 10, 2020, the GBI arrested Chassity Nicole Swain, 21, of Sylvester, for Felony Murder and Cruelty to Children in the 1st degree, in connection to the death of her son Joshua Swain, 2, on November 13, 2019. A warrant was obtained for Willie James Rhodes, Jr., 45, of Sylvester, for Murder in the 2nd degree and Cruelty to Children in the 2nd degree. Rhodes’ whereabouts are unknown at this time.

Americus, GA (January 10, 2020) – On Wednesday, January 8, 2020, the GBI Southwestern Regional Drug Enforcement Office, the GBI Americus Office, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Americus Police Department, DEA, and ATF arrested Montravis Tyner, age 27, Ruby Tyner, age 62, and Bryant Tyner, age 32, on the following charges:

MONTRAVIS TYNER – One count of Sale/Distribution of Schedule II substance, one count possession with intent to distribute Schedule II substance, one count possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. 

RUBY TYNER – one count possession of Schedule II substance. 

BRYANT TYNER – Failure to Appear for a Fingerprintable Offense.

Newnan, GA (1/9/20) – On Monday, January 6, 2020, agents of the GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office, officers of the Newnan Police Department, and deputies of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office arrested 4 individuals at 1001 Bullsboro Dr, Newnan, Georgia. 

The following were arrested:

Sergio Juarez, Age 32 of Gwinnett County.  He is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and heroin.

Ceirra Harrison, Age 26 of Gwinnett County.  She is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and heroin.

Pedro Guzman, Age 36 of Gwinnett County. He is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and heroin.

Paula Garcia, Age 37 of Gwinnett County.  She is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and heroin.

Newnan, GA (1/9/20) – On Monday, January 6, 2020, agents of the GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office, officers of the Newnan Police Department, and deputies of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office arrested Lenorris Robinson, age 37, of Newnan, Georgia.  This arrest was the result of a year long investigation into methamphetamine and heroin trafficking activities of Robinson in Coweta County, GA.

Brooks County, GA (January 9, 2020) – An unidentified female found murdered in Brooks County in 1981 has been identified as SHIRLENE “CHERYL” ANN HAMMACK.

UPDATE: On Thursday, January 9, 2020, the GBI secured arrest warrants for the following individuals:

Jason Anderson, 39, Felony False Statements

Justin Anderson, 35, Felony Tampering With Evidence, Felony False Statements

Daniel Anderson, 31, Misdemeanor Reckless Conduct 

Jason, Justin, and Daniel Anderson turned themselves in to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office without incident.

The cause of death in this case is still pending final determination.

Ambrose, GA (January 1, 2020) – On Wednesday, January 1, 2020, the GBI’s Douglas Regional Office received a request from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a death investigation.
