Update (October 7, 2019) - Santana Joyner, age 16, of Lumber City GA, died as a result of a gunshot wound he sustained during the attempted armed robbery that occurred October 3, 2019. Joyner was being investigated as a subject in the armed robbery.
Cochran, GA (October 7, 2019) – On Monday, October 7, 2019, former Bleckley County High School teacher Brantley Aaron Collins, 25, was arrested for one felony count of Sexual Assault by Persons with Supervisory or Disciplinary Authority.
Soperton, GA (October 7, 2019) – On Friday, October 4, 2019, the GBI arrested Shaquoiya Taylor, 27, in connection with an internal theft that occurred while employed with the City of Soperton as the Assistant City Clerk.
Update - 10/9/19 - The subject has been identified as Salvador Salazar, age 28, of North Carolina. He remains in the hospital in serious condition. An arrest warrant has been issued and turned over to the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office to be served for one count of aggravated assault on a peace
Richmond Hill, Georgia (October 4, 2019) – On Friday, October 4, 2019, the GBI Statesboro office arrested Matthew Lucas Bryant, age 30, for Murder and Cruelty to Children regarding the death of a 5-month-old infant.
Gainesville, GA (October 1, 2019) - On Monday, September 30, 2019, at approximately 6:07 PM, the GBI Cleveland Office was requested by the Gainesville Police Department to conduct an officer involved shooting investigation on West Avenue in Gainesville, Georgia.
Decatur, GA (October 1, 2019) – GBI Legal Services Director Mike Carlson has been named a “2019 Georgia Trailblazer” by the legal newspaper, the Daily Report.
Decatur, GA (9/30/19) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announces the promotion of Cleveland Miles as Deputy Director of the Crime Laboratory. Miles will oversee Crime Laboratory operations for GBI’s Division of Forensic Sciences.
