Atlanta, GA (October 9, 2019) - On Tuesday, October 8, 2019, the GBI Atlanta Office was requested by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to investigate an officer involved shooting.   

Preliminary information indicates that law enforcement officers were conducting a drug investigation in the parking lot of apartments located at 1090 Hollywood Road, Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.  During one of the transactions, a physical assault occurred that resulted in an exchange of gun fire between law enforcement and multiple subjects.    During the shooting, one of the subjects was shot in the leg, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries.  He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.  Two subjects were taken into custody at the time of the incident.  Several subjects fled the scene and have not been located. 

No officers required medical attention at the scene.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation.  If anyone has information related to the incident or involved subjects, please contact the GBI Atlanta Regional Office at 770-388-5019.  Once the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the United States Attorney’s Office Northern District of Georgia for review.
