Tattnall County Homicide Investigation

Glenville, Tattnall County, GA (December 27, 2019) – On Friday, December 27, 2019, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Arthur Villalobos III, age 36, of Glennville, GA, for the murder of Pamela Kay Swope, age 65, of Glennville, GA. 

On Thursday, December 26, 2019, at approximately 6:29 a.m., the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an unresponsive person at Lot 59 Beards Creek Trailer Park located at 2697 Georgia Highway 196 in Glennville, Tattnall County, Georgia.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting at the Request of the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office

Fulton County, GA (December 25, 2019) – On Wednesday, December 25, 2019, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 9:47 a.m., CCSO deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on I-285 near Riverdale Road in Clayton County for speeding.  During the attempted stop, deputies were alerted that the vehicle was stolen out of the city of South Fulton.  The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued.  The vehicle led deputies to the 4500 block of Ridge Road in Atlanta which is a dead-end. 

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Clayton County, GA

Clayton County, GA (December 24, 2019) – On Tuesday, December 24, 2019, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 2:07 p.m., a CCSO deputy attempted to stop a vehicle in the 6300 block of Jonesboro Road in Morrow.  The stop was attempted after the deputy was alerted the vehicle, a pickup truck, was associated with a wanted person.  The truck initially stopped, then sped away.  The deputy pursued until the truck wrecked near 5320 Philips Road in Lake City.  After the wreck, the deputy fired his service weapon, striking the subject identified as Donald Clark Wright III, 24, of Jackson.  Wright ran from the scene and was apprehended on Helen Street minutes later by responding officers. 

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Carroll County, GA

Carroll County, GA (December 22, 2019) – On Saturday, December 21, 2019, at approximately 10:30 PM, the GBI was requested by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an officer involved shooting investigation.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 5:00 PM, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic incident in the 200 block of Hinson Circle. Marc Denver Thompson, 26, allegedly threatened his mother and brother with a gun during the incident. As a result, arrest warrants were obtained for Thompson charging him with two counts of aggravated assault.

Four People Face Gang Charges in Connection with a Dawsonville Murder

Dawsonville, Georgia (December 20, 2019) – On Wednesday, December 18, 2019, the murder case of Hannah Bender was presented to a Dawson County Grand Jury.  As a result of the presentation, the Grand Jury returned a true bill indictment against Austin Stryker, Isaac Huff, Dylan Reid and Jerry Harper for their involvement in the murder.  Austin Stryker was indicted for Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Felony, Concealing the Death of Another and Tampering with Evidence. 

Two Members of the International Criminal Street Gang Sureños Arrested

Lawrenceville, GA (December 18, 2019) – On Tuesday, December 17, 2019, The GBI Gang Task Force and multiple law enforcement agencies descended upon two criminal street gang’s weapons and drug caches in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, Georgia.  Participating agencies included ICE Homeland Security Investigations, Gwinnett Metro Task Force, Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office, GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office, Atlanta Police Department (K-9 Unit), Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles, Georgia Department of Community Supervision, and Gwinnett County Fire and EMS.

GBI Arrests Dooly County Employee

(Vienna, GA -12/12/2019) On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, Christie Jo Cape, age 56, was arrested in Dooly County, Georgia.  Cape was charged with Theft by Taking {O.C.G.A. 16-8-2} involving the theft of $500.00 of official Dooly County funds.  Cape turned herself in to the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office where she was processed through the arrest/booking procedure.

Brookhaven, GA (December 9, 2019) – On Monday, December 9, 2019, at approximately 3:35 a.m., the GBI Atlanta Regional Office was requested by the Brookhaven Police Department to conduct an officer involved shooting investigation.

GBI Arrests Cairo Chief of Police for Theft

Cairo, GA (December 3, 2019) – On Tuesday, December 3, 2019, the GBI arrested Cairo Chief of Police Keith Sandefur for two counts of theft by conversion.
