Milledgeville, Georgia (March 1, 2023) – On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Thomas Earl “Buster” King, age 57, of McIntyre, Georgia. King is charged with two counts of sexual contact with an employee or agent and two counts of violation of oath of office. King turned himself in to the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
Ashburn, GA (March 1, 2023) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Ashburn, GA. The Ashburn Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on March 1, 2023. One man was shot and killed. One officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Quitman, GA (February 28, 2023) – On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, JayKeith Jamar Davis, age 22, of Quitman, has been charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of Cenquez Perry and four counts of the Georgia Criminal Street Gang Act. Perry was killed while he slept in his home at the Woodmere Apartments on Barwick Road in Quitman on August 28, 2020. Davis was already in the Brooks County Jail on other unrelated charges.
Quitman, GA (August 28, 2020) – On Friday, August 28, 2020, about 1:51 a.m., the GBI was requested by Chief Roy Hart of the Quitman Police Department to investigate a shooting that took place at a Barwick Road Apartment Complex in Quitman, Georgia. GBI responded to the scene where Cenquez Jermaine Perry, 17, appeared to have been shot while he was sleeping inside. Preliminary information gathered from the scene and through witness interviews, appears to indicate the shots were intentionally fired through an outside wall into the apartment.
Upson County, GA (February 28, 2023) – On Thursday, February 23, 2023, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit executed two search warrants regarding separate child exploitation investigations. Joseph Carter, age 19, of The Rock, GA, was arrested and charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of children, possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) (three counts) and distribution of CSAM (three counts). Joseph Robinson, age 39, of Thomaston, GA, was arrested and charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of children, possession of CSAM (three counts) and distribution of CSAM (three counts).
Collins, GA (February 28, 2023) – Carson Colbert, age 19, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of his stepfather, James Eric Williamson, age 46. Additional charges are expected. The Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI investigate the death on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
McDuffie County, GA (February 27, 2023) – On Friday, February 24, 2023, Department of Community Supervision Officer Bobby Evans, 57, of Thomson, was arrested and charged with two counts of Sexual Assault of a Probationer or Parolee and one count of Violation of Oath of Office by a Public Officer. Evans surrendered to GBI agents at the McDuffie County Jail.
Dalton, GA (February 24, 2023) – The GBI is investigating an aggravated assault on Dalton Police Department officers. Eron Naseem Buggs, age 23, was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for murder warrants from St. Mary’s County, Maryland and armed robbery warrants from Coweta County, Georgia. On Friday, February 24, 2023, Buggs was at 815 Shugart Road in Dalton, Georgia when he called 911 to say he wanted to turn himself in. Dalton Police Department officers were dispatched to that address. When the officers arrived, Buggs shot at the officers. The officers took cover and did not fire their weapons. Buggs then retreated behind the apartments and into the woods where he shot himself. Once the officers were able to safely approach him, medical treatment was started.
Douglas, GA (February 24, 2023) – The GBI has arrested and charged Anastagia Carter, 51, of Douglas, Georgia, with two counts of 1st Degree Cruelty to a Child, two counts of 3rd Degree Cruelty to a Child, two counts of False Imprisonment, and two counts of Simple Battery stemming from incidents that occurred at Indian Creek Elementary School.
Clayton, GA (February 23, 2023) – Emerald Skye Ward, 33, of Tiger, Georgia, and John Casey Ward, 43, of Westminster, South Carolina, have been arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine and Making False Statements to Law Enforcement in Rabun County, Georgia.
Homerville, GA (February 22, 2023) – The GBI has arrested and charged Dearin “Mack” Drury, 40, of Homerville, Georgia with Theft By Taking, Possession of Marijuana, False Statements and Writings, and Violation of Oath of Office stemming from an incident involving improper evidence handling that occurred on February 19, 2023, at the Homerville Police Department.
