GBI Arrests Three Officers in Camden County Jail Investigation

Camden County, GA (November 22, 2022) – The GBI has arrested and charged Camden County Corporal Correction Officer Mason Garrick, age 23, of Bryceville, Florida, Camden County Deputies Ryan Biegel, age 24, and Braxton Massey, age 21, both from Kingsland, Georgia, with one count of Battery and one count of Violation of Oath of Public Office.  On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, the Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office requested the GBI to investigate an incident that took place in the Camden County Jail between Camden County Jail staff and Jarrett Hobbs, age 41. 

GBI Makes Arrest in Rockmart Homicide Investigation

Rockmart, GA (November 21, 2022) – The GBI has arrested Ashuyan Stocks, age 15, of Rockmart, and charged him with felony malice murder, aggravated assault, possession of firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of pistol by person under 18, and possession of marijuana within a 1000ft of housing authority. The charges relate to the death of Cieria Lashae Colvin.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Clayton County

Morrow, GA (November 21, 2022) - The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Morrow, Georgia. The Clayton County Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on November 21, 2022. One man was shot and died. No officers were injured in this incident.  

GBI Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in Paulding County

Dallas, GA (November 20, 2022) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an officer involved shooting investigation in Paulding County, GA. The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on November 20, 2022. One man was shot and killed. No deputies were injured during the incident. 

GBI Investigates Death in Hancock County

Update - Saturday, November, 19, 2022:

The GBI has obtained arrest warrants for Treyvion Markise Crayton, age 20, of Sparta, Georgia. Crayton was charged with Felony Murder, Malice Murder and Aggravated Assault for the death of Robert May.

Crayton was booked into the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Cartersville, GA

Bartow County, GA (November 17, 2022) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Cartersville, GA.  On Thursday, November 17, 2022, the Cartersville Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation.  One man was injured.  No officers were injured. 

Elbert County Man Arrested for Obscene Internet Contact with a Child

Elberton, GA (November 17, 2022) – Paul Brooks, age 54, of Elbert County, GA, was arrested and charged with obscene internet contact with a child by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. The GBI CEACC Unit initiated an investigation after receiving a request for assistance from the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office. Information was received from the Carbondale Police Department in Kansas, that Brooks was allegedly messaging a minor in an obscene and sexual manner. The investigation by the Carbondale Police Department and the GBI led to Brooks’ subsequent arrest on November 15, 2022. This investigation is still ongoing and further charges may be pending. Brooks was taken to the Elbert County Jail upon his arrest.

Coffee County Man Arrested for the Sexual Exploitation of Children 

Douglas, GA (November 17, 2022) – Daniel Allen Guernsey, age 50, of Coffee County, GA, was arrested and charged with one count of Sexual Exploitation of Children by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. The GBI CEACC Unit began an investigation into Guernsey’s online activity after receiving a cybertip report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the possible online possession of child sexual abuse material. This investigation led to a search of Guernsey’s electronic devices and his subsequent arrest on November 14, 2022. The GBI CEACC unit was aided in the arrest of Guernsey by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. Guernsey was taken to the Coffee County Jail upon his arrest.

GBI Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in DeKalb County

Decatur, GA (November 15, 2022) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an officer involved shooting investigation in DeKalb County, GA, involving a Lithonia Police Department officer. The Lithonia Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on November 14, 2022. One man was shot and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured during the incident. 

GBI Arrests Lumpkin City Council Member

Lumpkin, GA (November 15, 2022) – Lumpkin City Council Member Nikita Seay was arrested and charged with three counts of impersonating a public officer false imprisonment, three counts of stalking, and violation of oath by a public officer.
