Warner Robins, Houston County, GA (December 20, 2022) - The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Warner Robins, GA.  The Georgia State Patrol asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on December 20, 2022.

Preliminary information indicates that at 11:00 a.m., a Trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Watson Boulevard in Warner Robins, Georgia.  The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Christopher Rodriguez, age 33, of Macon, Georgia, failed to stop and there was vehicle pursuit.  During the vehicle pursuit, Rodriguez fired multiple shots at the Trooper while driving fast.  Rodriguez came to a stop behind a business and got out of the vehicle with a firearm.  The Trooper fired his gun, and Rodriguez ran away.  Rodriguez ran to a nearby apartment complex where he carjacked a man at gunpoint and sped away from the Trooper.  Rodriguez drove to Bibb County where he ultimately wrecked on US 41 near GA-247.

After a lengthy pursuit, Rodriguez was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Houston County Detention Center.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The GBI Gang Task Force (Middle Georgia) and FBI Macon are assisting in the investigation.

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation.  When the investigation is done, the case file will be given to the Houston County District Attorney’s Office for review.
