Claxton Woman Arrested for Multiple Drug Charges

Claxton, GA (December 20, 2021) – After a joint drug investigation, GBI agents and Evans County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Mary Tillman, 50, of Claxton, GA for multiple drug charges.  On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, members of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Southeastern Regional Drug Enforcement Office (SRDEO), the Evans County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, and Uniform Patrol Division executed a search warrant at 510 Union Church Road, Claxton, Evans County, Georgia.  Agents and investigators had previous information that people were selling controlled substances at that address.

After further investigation, police issued a search warrant on the home and seized methamphetamine, alprazolam, tramadol, approximately $3500.00 dollars, and drug-related paraphernalia consistent with distribution.

Tillman is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Drugs Not in the Original Container.

Cindy Livingston, 36, of Claxton, Georgia, is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Drugs Not in the Original Container.  She is not in custody yet.

GBI Investigates Child Death in Evans County - UPDATE

Claxton, GA (December 16, 2021) – On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, Daequan Roberts, 21, of Claxton, GA, was arrested for the death of his girlfriend’s 10-month old baby boy that died from blunt force trauma injuries on November 29, 2021. Roberts is charged with Murder, Aggravated Battery, and Cruelty to Children. Roberts was taken into custody during a traffic stop by the Georgia State Patrol in Bulloch County based on arrest warrants previously obtained by the GBI. Roberts was booked into the Evans County Jail.

Claxton, GA (November 30, 2021) - The GBI is investigating the death of a 10-month old boy in Claxton, Georgia.  On Monday, November 29, 2021, at around 1:00 p.m., Evans County Sheriff Mac Edwards asked that agents in our Statesboro regional investigative office assist with this investigation.  The preliminary information indicates that at around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, the child’s mother’s boyfriend brought the child to Evans Memorial Hospital when the child became unresponsive.  Hospital personnel provided medical treatment, but the child died.  A GBI Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy at the GBI Crime Lab in Pooler.

Three Men Arrested in Muscogee County for the Sexual Exploitation of Children

Columbus, GA (December 10, 2021) – On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, and Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit, with the assistance of the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, executed four residential search warrants related to separate investigations pertaining to the Sexual Exploitation of Children. The investigations began after the GBI CEACC Unit received numerous independent and unrelated cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Those cybertips involved the possession and/or distribution of explicit child sexual abuse material, commonly referred to as child pornography, which resolved to Columbus, Muscogee County, GA.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Henry County

Ellenwood, GA (December 10, 2021) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an officer involved shooting investigation in Ellenwood, Henry County, GA. On Thursday, December 9, 2021, the Henry County Police Department asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate the incident that occurred on Panola Road in Ellenwood. One man was shot and died.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Camden County

Waverly, GA (December 10, 2021) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an officer involved shooting investigation in Waverly, Camden County, GA. On Friday, December 10, 2021, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate the incident that occurred on Amber Drive in Waverly. One man was shot and died.

Morrow, GA (December 6, 2021) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an officer involved shooting investigation in Morrow, Clayton County, GA. On Sunday, December 5, 2021, the Clayton County Police Department (CCPD) asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate the incident that occurred on Maddox Road in Morrow. One man was shot and died.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in DeKalb County

Lithonia, GA (December 2, 2021) –  The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Lithonia, GA.  The DeKalb County Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.  One man died in the incident. 

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Ben Hill County, GA

Rochelle, GA (December 2, 2021) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Rochelle, Ben Hill County, GA. The Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI conduct an independent investigation of the incident on December 1, 2021. One man is shot and in stable condition.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Clayton County

Update: The suspect has been identified as Arthur Allen Gilliam, age 35, of Rex, GA.

ORIGINAL RELEASE

Rex, GA (December 1, 2021) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Rex, GA.  The Clayton County Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.  One Clayton County Police Officer identified as Henry Laxson, 2 women, and one man have died.  One Clayton County Police Officer was injured.  

The preliminary information indicates that at 8:38 p.m., the Clayton County Police Department received 911 calls about a domestic disturbance at 3668 Jervis Court, Rex, Clayton County, Georgia.  As officers were responding to the scene, additional 911 calls indicated that shots had been fired.  When officers arrived, they encountered an armed man who shot and killed Clayton County Police Department Officer Henry Laxson and wounded another Clayton County Police Department officer.  Officers on scene returned fire, hitting the man, who died on scene.  Officers later determined that the man had just shot and killed two women and also shot a 12 year-old boy in the face just prior to officers arriving.  Officer Laxson was taken to Piedmont Henry Hospital where he died.  The injured officer was taken to a local area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  The GBI will perform an autopsy on the suspect in the triple shooting investigation. 

Berrien County Registered Sex Offender Arrested for the Sexual Exploitation of Children

Ray City, GA (November 29, 2021) – On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, Curtis Dwayne Watson, age 60, of Ray City, Berrien County, GA, was arrested and charged with one count of Sexual Exploitation of Children (Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material) by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. The GBI CEACC Unit began an investigation into Watson’s online activity after receiving two cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the online possession and distribution of images depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This investigation led to a search warrant at Watson’s home, where digital devices were searched and seized, and Watson was arrested. The GBI Douglas Office and the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office assisted in executing the search warrant. Watson is a registered sex offender in Berrien County.
