GBI Makes Arrest in Incest Investigation

Millen, GA (February 28, 2020) – On February 7, 2020, the GBI arrested Clinton Branch, 47, of Midville, GA, for Incest. On December 10, 2019, the Jenkins County Sheriff’s Office requested GBI assistance concerning an allegation of incest during which time a family member was impregnated. The preliminary investigation reveals Branch had sexual intercourse with a blood family member causing the pregnancy.

The case will be turned over to the Ogeechee Circuit District Attorney for review.

South Georgia Drug Investigation Yields Ten Arrests

(Albany, Georgia) – On Friday, February 21st, 2020, members of the GBI Southwestern Regional Drug Enforcement Office, GBI Special Enforcement Team, Albany/Dougherty SWAT, Albany Dougherty Drug Unit, Georgia State Patrol, and Lee County Sheriff’s Office executed multiple search and arrest warrants concluding an extended investigation.

During the investigation, agents began purchasing illicit narcotics from 520 9th Avenue in Albany, Dougherty County. Throughout the investigation, numerous investigative acts including controlled purchases and surveillance were conducted.

UPDATE: Death Investigation of Fort Valley State University Student

Peach County, GA (February 26, 2020) - On Wednesday, February 26, 2020, the GBI Region 13 Office secured additional arrest warrants in the death investigation of Anitra Gunn.

Through continued investigative acts and review of evidence, enough probable cause has been established to charge Jaivon Abron, age 22, with 2 counts of false statements and 1  count of concealing a death.  The warrants for the 2 counts of false statements were taken in Valdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia and the warrant for concealing a death has been taken in Peach County, Georgia.  Abron will be booked in the Peach County Jail prior to being transported to Lowndes County.  It should be noted that Abron and Demarcus Little are friends.

UPDATE: GBI Investigates Death in Coffee County

Douglas, GA (February 21, 2020)- On Wednesday, February 19 and Thursday, February 20, 2020, GBI Douglas agents along with Coffee County investigators made arrests in the death of Christopher Anthony Woolf. The following individuals were arrested and charged with one count of Murder:

Marquez Charron Floyd, 17

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in DeKalb County

DeKalb County, GA (February 20, 2020) – On Thursday, February 20, 2020, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the DeKalb County Police Department (DKPD) to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 3:28 p.m., DeKalb County 911 received a distress call from a female who provided no name or address. 

Two Arrested in Union County on Sexual Exploitation of Children Charges

Blairsville, Union County, GA (February 14, 2020) – On Wednesday, February 12, 2020, agents with the GBI Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Union County Sheriff's Office, executed search warrants at two residences in Union County, Georgia. The search warrants were related to two separate investigations related to the sexual exploitation of children.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Cobb County

Austell, GA (February 13, 2020) – On Wednesday, February 12, 2020, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Cobb County Police Department to investigate an officer involved shooting. 

Preliminary information indicates that on Wednesday night, a 911 caller reported shots fired at 970 Ellison Court, Austell, GA.  

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Conyers

Conyers, GA (February 12, 2020) – On Tuesday, February 11, 2020, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Conyers Police Department to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 6:45 p.m., a stolen vehicle was located traveling along Iris Dr. in Conyers. 

“Operation Broken Arrow” Targets On-line Child Predators

Valdosta, GA – February 10, 2020 – As a result of a proactive online undercover investigation coordinated by the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit (CEACC), the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, and the Southern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, fourteen (14) people were arrested over a four-day period beginning Thursday, February 6, 2020.  Those arrested were charged with O.C.G.A. 16-12-100.2, Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act of 2007 and/or O.C.G.A 16-5-46, Trafficking of Persons for Labor or Sexual Servitude. Additional charges and arrests may be forthcoming.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Atlanta

Atlanta, GA (February 9, 2020) – On Sunday, February 9, 2020, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Atlanta Police Department (APD) to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that an APD officer was working an off-duty job in a parking lot near Lyfe ATL, 201 Courtland Street SE, Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.
