Jackson County Man Arrested for the Sexual Exploitation of Children 

Hoschton, GA (January 13, 2023) – On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, Patrick John Agnew, age 58, of Jackson County, GA, was arrested and charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of children by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. This arrest was the result of an investigation into Agnew’s online activity conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Gainesville Office and the GBI. An investigation into Agnew’s online activity began after the FBI received a cybertip report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the possible online possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.  This investigation led to a search of Agnew’s residence and his subsequent arrest.  The search of Agnew’s home was conducted by the FBI Gainesville Office, the GBI CEACC Unit and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Agnew was taken to the Jackson County Jail upon his arrest.

Dawson County Man Arrested for the Sexual Exploitation of Children 

Dawsonville, GA (January 12, 2023) – On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, James Ricky Wiggins, age 55, of Dawson County, GA, was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of children by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. The GBI CEACC Unit began an investigation into Wiggins after receiving a request for assistance from the Parkersburg Police Department in West Virginia. Investigators from Parkersburg Police Department had obtained an arrest warrant for Wiggins for use of obscene matter with intent to seduce a minor. A Parkersburg Police Department investigator and GBI agents located Wiggins at his Dawson County home where he was arrested on the West Virginia charges. A search warrant was executed at his home and Wiggins was found to be in possession of child sexual abuse material resulting in the additional charges in Georgia. The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the GBI Cleveland Regional Investigative Office also assisted in this investigation. Wiggins was taken to the Dawson County Jail upon his arrest.

GBI Makes Arrest in Attempted Murder for Hire Case

Cleveland, GA (January 10, 2023) - The GBI arrested a Cleveland man for criminal solicitation in an attempted murder for hire case. The man was also arrested and charged with home invasion and aggravated assault in a separate incident in White County, Georgia.   

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Coweta County

Newnan, GA (January 9, 2023) –  The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Newnan, GA. The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on January 9, 2023. One man was shot and killed. No officers were injured in this incident.

The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Statesboro, GA. The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on Saturday, January 7, 2023. One man was shot and killed. No deputies were injured in this incident.

Athens, GA (January 7, 2023) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Athens, GA. The Athens-Clarke County Police Department (ACCPD) asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on Saturday, January 7, 2023. One man was shot and killed. No officers were injured in this incident.

Unidentified Woman’s Remains Found in Riceboro

UPDATE:

Riceboro, GA (January 5, 2023) – The GBI and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to seek the public’s help in identifying a woman who was found dismembered. An updated forensic artist’s rendering of the woman is attached.

Initially, partial remains of a white female were discovered off Jones Road in the woods of the Portal Hunting Club in Riceboro, Liberty County, GA. Additional remains were discovered within a three-mile radius on the hunting club property in Liberty County, as well as McIntosh County. Further testing has determined that the remains were placed in the area on or around November 27, 2022.

The remains are that of a white female with brown eyes and shoulder-length brown hair, approximately 5’9” to 5’10” in height, and approximately 185 to 200 lbs., with an age range of 20-50 years old. The body has no scars, marks, or tattoos. There is a single tooth implant in the upper right jaw. Clothing found near the remains is described as a dark blue long sleeve, “Merona” brand shirt, size medium; white camisole top, size large; light gray boy shorts with white stripe down the side, size large; and white “Amazon Essentials” underwear, size large.

The body is that of a white female with brown eyes and brown hair, approximately 5’9’ to 5’10, and approximately 190 to 200 lbs. She has no apparent scars or tattoos. A forensic artist’s rendering of the woman is attached.

The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on January 2, 2023. One man was shot and injured. No deputies were injured during the incident.

Mableton, GA (January 2, 2023) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an officer involved shooting investigation in Mableton, GA. The Cobb County Police Department (CCPD) asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on January 2, 2023. One man was shot and injured. No officers were injured during the incident. 

Gordon County Couple Arrested for the Sexual Exploitation of Children

Calhoun, GA (December 30, 2022) – On Thursday, December 29, 2022, William Sandridge, age 42, and Allyn Sandridge, age 41, of Gordon County, GA, were arrested and each charged with eight counts of sexual exploitation of children by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. The GBI CEACC Unit and Homeland Security Investigations began a joint investigation into the Sandridge’s online activity after receiving a report in reference to their online activity. This investigation led to a search warrant of the Sandridge’s home and their subsequent arrests. The GBI CEACC unit was assisted in the execution of this search warrant by the Calhoun Police Department, the Polk County Police Department, and the United States Secret Service. The Sandridges were taken to the Gordon County Jail upon their arrest.
