GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in College Park
(College Park, GA) - On Tuesday, August 24, 2021, the GBI was requested by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an officer involved shooting investigation. Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 9:48 p.m., members of the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit were attempting to execute an arrest warrant on Tory Brown, 22, of Atlanta, for Violation of Probation at 2135 Godby Road, Building 33, Apt 502, College Park, Fulton County, Georgia.
For several minutes, deputies gave verbal commands for the occupants of the apartment to leave. Several occupants left the apartment, but Brown did not comply and remained inside. Deputies entered the residence and Brown quickly advanced towards deputies. During the incident, a Clayton County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot Brown with his firearm. Brown died on scene as a result of his injuries.
No officers were injured.
The GBI will continue its independent investigation, and once complete will send the casefile to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review.
