GBI Investigates Death in Bartow County, GA

Adairsville, Bartow County, Georgia (September 25, 2026) - At the request of the Georgia State Patrol and the Adairsville Police Department, GBI agents are investigating the death of Nicholas Marino, age 40, of Graniteville, South Carolina.

Preliminary information indicates that around 10:50 a.m. on September 24, 2026, Georgia State Patrol troopers spotted a truck that matched the description from a South Carolina BOLO regarding Marino. The troopers initiated a traffic stop on the truck on the southbound side of Interstate 75 at Exit 306. Immediately after stopping the truck, Marino shot himself inside his truck. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

Marino was taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted.
