Peachtree City, Fayette County, GA (September 4, 2026) - The GBI and the Peachtree City Police Department have arrested Alex Hamlin, age 34, of Peachtree City, GA, and Harlan Hamlin, age 59, of Peachtree City, GA, with 20 counts of Theft by Conversion and one count of Violation of the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Alex Hamlin and Harlan Hamlin are the former owners of FYLT Aviation, a flight school previously located in Peachtree City, GA.

On February 12, 2025, the GBI was requested by the Peachtree City Police Department (PCPD) to assist with an investigation regarding allegations of misappropriation of funds associated with FLYT Aviation. Following the sale of FLYT Aviation to another owner in October 2024, PCPD began receiving multiple complaints from flight students regarding financial discrepancies within their FLYT Aviation accounts. The investigation revealed that several student accounts, including those of students participating in aviation scholarship and financing programs, were misappropriated by Alex Hamlin and Harlan Hamlin while the business was operating as FLYT Aviation.

On September 4, 2026, Alex Hamlin and Harlan Hamlin were booked into the Fayette County Jail.

Additional arrests are expected in this case.
