Tifton, Tift County, GA (August 6, 2026) - The GBI has arrested and charged Robert Louis Brown, age 41, and Aiyah Foster, age 25, both of Tifton, GA, in connection with the death of Josh Gillis, age 36, of Tifton, GA, on July 24, 2026. Brown was charged with Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, Second Degree Arson, Aggravated Assault, Improper Disposal of Human Remains, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, and Tampering with Evidence. Foster was charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, Tampering with Evidence, Improper Disposal of Human Remains, and Second Degree Arson.

Warrants were also taken for Derrick Lamar Britt Jr., age 33, of Tifton, GA, in connection with the death of Gillis. Britt Jr. is not in custody at this time. He is wanted for Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, Second Degree Arson, Aggravated Assault, Improper Disposal of Human Remains, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, and Tampering with Evidence.

Preliminary information indicates that on Friday, July 24, 2026, Tift County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies responded to the intersection of Arnold Road and Branch Road in Tifton, GA, after being notified of a burning car. Once deputies arrived, they discovered Gillis deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

Gillis’s body was taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, where his death was ruled a homicide.

Brown is currently located in the Tift County Jail on unrelated charges.

Foster was arrested on August 6, 2026, and booked into the Tift County Jail.
