Rockdale County, GA (April 19, 2026) - At the request of the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are investigating an officer involved shooting in Rockdale County, GA. Ebone Harris, age 25, of Conyers, GA, was shot and injured during the incident. No deputies were injured.

Preliminary information indicates that at about 7:30 p.m., on April 18, 2026, Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in the 3700 block of Sugar Creek Lane in Conyers, GA, to conduct a welfare check. As deputies approached, Harris exited the home holding a knife. Harris raised the knife and ran toward the deputies. Deputies shot and injured Harris. The deputies were then able to disarm Harris, but she continued to fight. One deputy tased Harris and she was taken into custody. Harris was taken to an area hospital, where she is in stable condition.

Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the Rockdale County District Attorney’s Office for review.
