GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Ashburn
Ashburn, Turner County (March 4, 2026) - At the request of the Ashburn Police Department, GBI agents are investigating an officer involved shooting in Ashburn, GA. Larunce Glee, age 25, of Cordele, GA, was shot and killed in the incident. No officers were injured.
Preliminary information indicates on March 4, 2026, at about 2:40 p.m., an Ashburn Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop near 923 North Street. The stop was conducted for a traffic violation involving two children standing inside a vehicle who were not secured in child restraint seats. During the traffic stop, the driver, later identified as Kabrion Young, age 25, of Cordele, GA, attempted to run away from the officer. A physical altercation then occurred between Young and the officer. As other officers arrived on scene to assist, the officer tased Young, who was later arrested.
Officers then asked one of the passengers, later identified as Glee, to exit the vehicle. Glee refused to follow the officers’ instructions and began to fight the officers. As officers tried to gain control, Glee attempted to pull a firearm from his waistband. One of the officers then shot Glee.
Glee was taken to Tift Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Young was later arrested by the Ashburn Police Department and booked into the Turner County Jail.
There were three additional passengers in the vehicle, including one adult and two children who were not injured during the incident.
This investigation is active and ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Tift Judicial District Attorney’s Office for review.
