GBI Investigates Death in Jonesboro

UPDATE - February 12, 2026:

The GBI has arrested and charged Royal McCollough III, age 24, of Jonesboro, GA, with Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony in connection with the death of Donald Eugene Kelly.

McCollough was charged on February 12, 2026, and is currently detained at the Clayton County Jail on unrelated charges.

Jonesboro, GA (November 23, 2025) - At the request of the Jonesboro Police Department, the GBI is investigating the death of Donald Eugene Kelly, age 50, of Jonesboro, GA.

On Sunday, November 23, 2025, at about 3:00 a.m., Kelly was found dead in the roadway near the intersection of Fayetteville Road and Williamson Mill Road in Jonesboro.
