Gwinnett County, GA (December 31, 2025) - At the request of the Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD), GBI agents are investigating an officer involved shooting in Gwinnett County. Brent Elvin Ivy, age 39, of Dacula, GA, was shot and killed in the incident. No officers were injured.

Preliminary information indicates on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at about 11:45 p.m., GCPD officers located a vehicle that was wanted in connection to a BOLO released by the Roswell Police Department. The wanted vehicle was parked at a business on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Peachtree Corners. An officer attempted to box the wanted vehicle in, but the driver, later identified as Ivy, rammed the officer's vehicle, leaving it inoperable. The wanted vehicle fled the scene with responding GCPD officers in pursuit. The wanted vehicle crashed in the 7000 block of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. Ivy exited the vehicle and started running. As officers chased Ivy, he took out a handgun and pointed it towards the officers. Two officers fired their weapons, fatally wounding Ivy.

Ivy’s body will be taken to the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be conducted.

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office for review.
