GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Decatur
Decatur, GA (January 30, 2025) - At the request of the U.S. Marshals Service, GBI agents are investigating an officer involved shooting in Decatur, GA. Marquiece Beadle, age 34, of Decatur, GA, was injured during the incident. He is being treated for his injuries at a local hospital. No officers were injured.
The preliminary information indicates at about 4:00 p.m., the U.S. Marshals Service was near the 5800 block of Covington Hwy, Decatur, attempting to execute an arrest warrant for Beadle. Beadle had active warrants for murder and sale of controlled substance from the Chamblee Police Department. As officers approached the home, Beadle ran out of the apartment and encountered a DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy. Beadle pulled a handgun. The deputy fired his weapon, hitting Beadle. Beadle was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Once complete, the case file will be given to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
