GBI Investigates Death in Stewart County
UPDATE - October 11, 2024:
The GBI has arrested and charged 3 people in connection to the death of Tevin Wright:
- On Thursday, September 19, 2024, the GBI along with the Lumpkin Police Department arrested a 16-year-old from Lumpkin, GA, and charged him with Aggravated Assault and Felony Murder.
- On Friday, September, 20, 2024, Quantavius Cooper, age 17, of Richland, GA was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Felony Murder by the GBI and Lumpkin Police Department.
On Thursday, October 10th, 2024, Zanquez Davis, age 19, of Lumpkin, GA, was arrested by the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office. Davis was charged with Aggravated Assault and Felony Murder.
Cooper and Davis were booked into the Stewart County Jail.
The 16-year-old is being held at the Columbus RYDC.
The GBI would like to thank the community for providing critical information relating to this investigation which led to these arrests. In addition, we would like to thank the Lumpkin Police Department, the Richland Police Department, and the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case.

Stewart County, GA (September 11, 2024) - At the request of the Lumpkin Police Department, GBI agents are investigating the death of Tevin Wright, age 31, of Lumpkin, GA.
The Lumpkin Police Department was dispatched to the scene of a car accident on Cotton Street in Lumpkin, Stewart County, GA. While on the scene, officers discovered Wright dead in the driver’s seat of the car with gunshot wounds.
This investigation is active and ongoing.
