GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Dodge County
Eastman, Dodge County, Georgia (August 27, 2024) – At the request of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are investigating an officer involved shooting in Eastman, GA. Kim Lawong Crocker, age 58, of Eastman, GA was shot and killed in the incident. One officer was shot and injured.
The preliminary investigation indicates on August 27, 2024, at about 9:40 a.m., police received a 911 call regarding livestock/animals in the roadway at Dodge Ave. and Mt. Moriah St. The responding deputy was attempting to contact residents that lived at an address in the 5000 block of Dodge Ave. which is near the intersection of the original 911 call. When the deputy arrived, Crocker met the deputy at the corner of the home with a firearm. The deputy and Crocker exchanged gunfire. The deputy was shot in the arm during the shooting and taken to a hospital for treatment. Crocker was pronounced dead on the scene.
