Gordon County, GA (August 9, 2024) - At the request of the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are investigating a shooting in Gordon County, GA. One man was injured.

On July 7, 2024, at about 3:30 a.m., the GBI was requested by the Gordon County Sheriff's Office to assist with an investigation into a shooting that occurred at a large venue rented as an Airbnb in Fairmount, Georgia. The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office received calls about the event and complaints about loud music. When deputies arrived, they discovered a man who had been shot and injured.

The victim had been shot in the large gravel parking lot next to the main house. Several people were in the parking lot at the time of the shooting. Through the course of the investigation, GBI agents learned that the party the victim was attending had been posted on Snapchat and shared multiple times. Most of the attendees of the party did not know each other. GBI agents interviewed witnesses and determined that about 150 to 200 people came to the party after seeing it on social media.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for his injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The GBI is requesting anyone who may have attended this party between July 6 through July 7, 2024, or who may have video or information about the shooting to submit anonymous tips by calling 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), online at https://gbi.georgia.gov/submit-tips-online, or by downloading the See Something, Send Something mobile app.

Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Gordon County District Attorney’s Office for review and potential prosecution.
