Barnesville, GA (April 15, 2024) – On April 15, 2024, the GBI arrested and charged Jerald Frank Rafferzeder, age 57, of Forsyth, Georgia, with Theft by Taking and Violation of Oath of Office. 

On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the Milner Police Department requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to assist with a theft investigation after a LIDAR system belonging to the Milner Police Department was documented as missing. The preliminary investigation revealed Rafferzeder, while employed as a police officer for the Milner Police Department, stole the item and another LIDAR system, and then sold it for $800.

Rafferzeder was booked into the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office.
