Woodbury, Georgia (April 1, 2024) – At the request of the Woodbury Police Department, GBI agents are investigating the death of Jaylen Jamal McGruder, age 22, of Pine Mountain, Georgia.

The preliminary investigation indicates at about 9:40 p.m., the Woodbury Police Department was dispatched to a parking lot behind a liquor store on Highway 85 in Woodbury in reference to a shooting. A large group of people were at this location when a fight broke out. Several people shot at each other multiple times, and McGruder was shot. 

McGruder was taken by ambulance to a local hospital in Thomaston where he died from his injuries.  

No arrests have been made at this time.

Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
