Mitchell County, GA (April 1, 2024) - At the request of the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are investigating the death of Peggy McCarthy, age 60, of Sale City, GA.  

On Friday, March 29, 2024, at about 6:15 p.m., the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to investigate McCarthy’s death. An agent and crime scene specialist responded to assist Mitchell County investigators with the investigation and processing the scene for any evidence.  

Investigators found no apparent injuries or cause of death. 

The body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab where a GBI Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy.
