UPDATE – March 1, 2024: 

Moultrie, Georgia - The GBI and the Moultrie Police Department have arrested and charged one 15-year-old and one 16-year-old, both males, with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in connection with the shooting that took place on Sunday, February 25, 2024. The GBI and Moultrie PD arrested one on February 29, 2024, and the other on March 1, 2024. Both were arrested after they were interviewed by the GBI and the Moultrie Police Department. 

Prosecutors will request that both be treated as adults due to the seriousness of their crimes and that their cases be moved to Superior Court where they will be treated as adults.   

After further investigation, it has been determined two of the victims were minors, and one was an adult. 

This case is active and ongoing and anyone with information on this case is asked to call the GBI Thomasville Office at 229-225-4090 or Moultrie Police at 229-985-3131. Once complete, this case file will be turned over to the Colquitt County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. 

 ORIGINAL RELEASE:

Moultrie, Georgia (February 27, 2024) - On Sunday, February 25, 2024, at about 4:20 p.m., the Moultrie Police Department requested the GBI to assist with an aggravated assault investigation. Three minors were shot on the Moultrie Housing Authority property located on 5th Street NW, in Moultrie, Georgia. 

The investigation shows that several minors were standing together when two people ambushed them and began shooting at them. Three minors were hit by gunfire from the two shooters. They suffered non-fatal wounds and were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for their injuries. Police have made no arrests. 

This investigation is active and ongoing.
