GBI Arrests 3 People in Death Investigation in Bainbridge

Bainbridge, Georgia (February 27, 2024) – The GBI has arrested and charged Anthony Tyrome Chandler, age 26, of Bainbridge, GA, Angela Balogun, age 44, of Bainbridge, GA, and Brianna Chandler, age 24, of Bainbridge, GA, for the death of Oharra Reggynaulde Thomas, age 23, of Bainbridge, GA. 

Anthony Tyrome Chandler was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Angela Balogun was charged with tampering with evidence, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Brianna Chandler was charged with aggravated assault and hindering the apprehension of a fugitive. 

The investigation shows on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at about 5:50 p.m., Bainbridge Public Safety requested the GBI to assist with an investigation in the 1400 block of Avenue A in Bainbridge, GA in reference to Thomas’ death.   

Thomas was in an argument with his girlfriend, and several members of her family, including her sister, Brianna Chandler; her brother, Anthony Tyrome Chandler; and her mother, Angela Balogun. The argument escalated and Anthony Chandler shot Thomas multiple times. Thomas later died. 

All three were booked into the Decatur County Jail.   

A GBI medical examiner will perform an autopsy on Thomas.

Once complete, this case file will be given to the South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
