Hahira, Georgia (January 17, 2024) - At the request of the Hahira Police Department, GBI agents are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened Sunday night in Hahira, Georgia. One minor was arrested. No one was injured in this incident.

The preliminary information indicates that officers with the Hahira Police Department were attempting to arrest two minors who were suspected of breaking into multiple vehicles in the area. One minor was arrested without incident, but the other ran away from officers. Officers began searching the area for the minor and found him near Hall Road in Hahira. As officers searched, the minor was seen getting into a white Dodge Challenger that was parked in the area. The Dodge Challenger was being driven by a relative of the minor who he had contacted and asked to pick him up.

As the driver of the Dodge Challenger attempted to flee from the area, he drove towards an officer and two civilian witnesses standing nearby before making a U-turn to attempt to escape. During the encounter, one officer fired multiple shots, hitting the Dodge Challenger. The driver drove a short distance and came to a stop when law enforcement officers blocked the vehicle’s path. The driver surrendered without further incident. No one was injured by the gunfire.
