December 14, 2023 – The GBI and Bainbridge Public Safety Officers arrested and charged Ebony Desean Brooks, age 18, with malice murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in connection to the death of Camren Walker.  

On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, about 7:50 a.m., Bainbridge Public Safety Director Frank Green requested GBI assistance regarding the discovery of Camren Walker, age 19, of Bainbridge, GA, shot to death in a vacant lot in the 800 block of Monroe Street in Bainbridge, Georgia. Walker was found by a passerby. GBI agents and a crime scene specialist responded to the scene where they processed it for evidence with Bainbridge Public Safety officers and Decatur County Sheriff’s investigators.  Evidence was collected from the scene for further testing and analysis. An autopsy was performed on Walker at the GBI Crime Lab in Macon, GA to aid agents and investigators in their investigation. 

On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, GBI agents and Bainbridge Public Safety officers contacted Brooks at his home on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Bainbridge. He was arrested later that day after he was interviewed regarding this case by agents and officers.   

Brooks was booked into the Decatur County Jail.

This case is still active and ongoing. Agents and Bainbridge Officers are continuing to follow up on additional information learned throughout the investigation. When complete, the case file will be provided to District Attorney Joe Mulholland for prosecution in the South Georgia Judicial Circuit.
