GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Cherokee County

UPDATE:

Holly Springs, GA (June 15, 2022) – The man that died in the Cherokee County officer involved shooting has been identified as Normiez Reeves, age 35, of Riverdale.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

Holly Springs, GA (June 14, 2022) –  The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Cherokee County, Georgia. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on June 13, 2022. One man was shot. He died later.  No law enforcement officers were injured in this incident.

GBI Investigates Shooting in Metter

Metter, GA (June 15, 2022) – On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Metter Police Department to assist with a shooting investigation.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Lowndes County

The man involved in this OIS is identified as Timothy Adams, age 32, of Valdosta.

Valdosta, GA (June 14, 2022) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Valdosta, Lowndes County, GA. The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on Monday, June 13, 2022. One man was shot and is deceased. No officers were injured during the incident.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Cobb County

Mableton, GA (June 12, 2022) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Mableton, Cobb County, GA. The Cobb County Police Department (CCPD) asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on Saturday, June 11, 2022. One man was shot and is deceased. No officers were injured during the incident.

GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Gwinnett County

Lawrenceville, Georgia (June 11, 2022) - The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Lawrenceville, Georgia.  The Gwinnett County Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on June 10, 2022. James Edward Perkins, age 34, and one Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Deputy were shot. They are both being treated at Northside Hospital Gwinnett.

GBI Arrests Greenville Police Officer

Greenville, GA (June 10, 2022) – On Thursday, June 9, 2022, the GBI arrested and charged Greenville Police Officer Rory Haynes, age 54, of Greenville, Meriwether County, GA, with one count of computer invasion of privacy, one count of unauthorized request or disclosures of criminal history information, and one count of violation of oath of office. Additional charges may be pending.

Oglethorpe County Man Charged with Multiple Sex Crimes Against Children

Arnoldsville, GA (June 10, 2022) – On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, Jeffrey Sean Todd, age 30, of Oglethorpe County, GA, was arrested on five counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children (Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material), one count Obscene Internet Contact with a Child, and one count Child Molestation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. 

Banks County Man Charged with the Sexual Exploitation of Children

Lula, GA (June 10, 2022) – On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, Colby Dean Tucker, age 25, of Banks County, GA, was arrested on one count of Sexual Exploitation of Children (Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material), one count of Sexual Exploitation of Children (Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material) by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit. The GBI CEACC Unit began an investigation into Tucker’s online activity after receiving a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the online possession of images depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The investigation led to a search warrant at Tucker’s residence in Banks County, GA, and his subsequent arrest. The GBI was assisted in this case by the Banks County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Secret Service. 

GBI Makes Arrest in Theft Investigation

Villa Rica, GA (June 9, 2022) – The GBI has arrested and charged Shirley Brown, age 66, of Eastaboga, Calhoun County, Alabama, with one count of theft by taking. On February 8, 2021, the Villa Rica Police Department asked the GBI to investigate a theft allegation involving Brown.

Canton Man Arrested for Armed Robbery

On June 7, 2022, Marcus Paul Milford, 52, of Canton, Georgia, was arrested on one count of Armed Robbery.  Milford was indicted by a Dawson County Grand Jury and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest in May 2022 for an armed robbery which occurred at a Dawsonville, Georgia CVS Pharmacy in 2015.  During the 2015 armed robbery, prescription pills were stolen.  During this extensive investigation, the GBI was able to identify Milford and secure his indictment.
