Washington, GA (February 19, 2021) –   On February 19, 2021, at approximately 9:00 AM, former Washington-Wilkes High School Athletic Director Tony Christopher (TC) Jay turned himself in at the Wilkes County Jail following an eight-month investigation by the GBI. Jay, 33 years old, of Ellijay, Georgia was charged with Sexual Assault by Persons with Supervisory or Disciplinary Authority.

On June 8, 2020, the GBI was requested to assist the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation after a complaint was filed with the Sheriff’s Office concerning Jay and a former Washington-Wilkes student having a sexual relationship while the student was enrolled at Washington-Wilkes High School. The relationship between Jay and the student occurred between August 2018 and May 2019. 

The investigation is ongoing and upon completion will be turned over to the Toombs Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
