Douglasville, GA (December 28, 2020) – On Monday, December 28, 2020, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Douglasville Police Department (DPD) to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at approximately 10:28 p.m., DPD officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at 6729 Clark Street, Douglasville, Douglas County, Georgia. Officers encountered a subject identified as Markus Alan Taylor, 36, of Dallas, Georgia, and a female. Taylor was the subject of the complaint and had reportedly caused damage inside the residence. Officers addressed the situation and left the residence. A short time later, officers determined that Taylor had outstanding arrest warrants and returned to the residence to arrest him at approximately 11:16 p.m. Officers encountered Taylor in a bedroom and he did not comply with officers’ commands. During the incident, two officers discharged their firearms, striking Taylor. Taylor was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No officers were injured during the incident. 

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Once completed, it will be turned over to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for review.
