On Saturday, August 29, 2020, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Atlanta Police Department (APD) to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 3:00 p.m., while APD officers were investigating a possible vehicle theft, they encountered a suspect vehicle in a parking lot located near 80 13th Street NE. When officers approached the car, which was later found to be stolen, the vehicle fled from the lot and drove toward the officers. One officer was grazed and one APD vehicle struck by the fleeing car. One officer fired his weapon during the incident. The stolen car traveled to 97 10th Street NW, where the vehicle ran into a building and wrecked. Two males were reported running from the scene, but were not located. At this time there is no indication that either occupant was struck by gunfire.

The officer who was hit by the stolen car was treated at the scene.  No other officers were injured.
