Warrenton, GA (August 25, 2020) – On Saturday, August 22, 2020, at approximately 12:50 a.m., the GBI was requested to assist the Warrenton Police Department with a death investigation that occurred on Depot Street in Warrenton, Warren County, GA.

At approximately 12:39 a.m., the Warrenton Police Department responded to the 300 block of Depot Street in reference to a shots fired call. Upon arrival, police found Eric Battle, 41, of Warrenton, shot. Battle died of his injuries on the scene.

Battle's body has been transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur, GA where an autopsy will be performed. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to call the Warrenton Police Department at 706-465-3309 or the GBI at 706-595-2575.
