On Friday, July 31, 2020, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), the GBI’s Southwestern Regional Drug Enforcement Office, the FBI Southwest Georgia Gang Task Force, the Georgia Department of Community Supervision, the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, and the Pelham Police Department collaborated to conduct concentrated patrols in areas in Pelham and Mitchell counties that have experienced an increase in gang related violent crime.  These crimes include over 30 shootings and home invasions since January of 2020.  During the 8-hour joint operation, police conducted sixty-seven traffic stops, resulting in in 27 warnings and 14 citations.

Additionally, the following individuals were arrested:

  1. Eugene Mobley III, age 38, Green Gamble Court, Camilla, GA – Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act (Possession of suspected MDMA and another drug related charge). Arrested by Pelham/FBI Gang Task Force.
  2. Andre Eugene Holmes, age 30, Baggs Ferry Road, Camilla, GA – Possession of Firearm by First Offender on Probation – Arrested by GSP /FBI Gang Taskforce.
  3. Roddrick Montreal Jenkins, age 18, Baytree Drive, Thomasville, GA – Driving Under Influence Drugs/Alcohol – Arrested by GSP.
  4. Yarnell Iman Keaton, age 35, Barnwell Street, Camilla, GA – Driving Under the Influence Drugs/Alcohol – Arrested by GSP.
  5. Xavaier Denzell Almond, age 27, Ledbetter Road, Camilla, GA – Driving with License Withdrawn and Probation Violation (felony) – Arrested by GSP.
  6. Anthony Bernard Haywood, age 45, Malaga Street, Pelham, GA – Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act (Possession of a Controlled Substance), Driving Under the Influence, Open Container, and Seat Belt Violation – Arrested by GSP.

The GBI’s Regional Office in Thomasville and Pelham Police Department are currently investigating multiple drive-by shootings that have taken place in and around the Mize Street area.  In these incidents, several people have been shot and wounded.  In some cases, children have nearly been struck by bullets.  Anyone with pertinent information is urged to call the GBI at 229-225-4090 or the Pelham Police Department at 229-294-6000.
