Broxton, GA (June 3, 2020) – On Saturday, May 16, 2020, the GBI’s Douglas Regional Office received a request from the Broxton Police Department to assist with the recovery and identification of human skeletal remains.

On Saturday, May 16, 2020, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Broxton Police Department received a call that a body was found in a wooded area near Ocmulgee St., Broxton, Ga. Officers and Deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the location and found what appeared to be human skeletal remains. GBI Crime Scene Specialist and Agent responded to process the location where the remains were found. Agents were unable to determine an immediate cause of death. The remains will be transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Macon, Ga., for autopsy, determination of cause of death, and identification.
