Buford, Georgia (April 10, 2020) – On Thursday, April 2, 2020, Evan Charles Rider, age 29, of Buford, Georgia was arrested on 2 counts of Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation.  Rider’s arrest came after Rider engaged in a sexually explicit online chat with who he believed to be a juvenile. The investigation into Rider’s conduct was conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit.  Rider was arrested by the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office and is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Jail. 

This investigation is part of the ongoing effort by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, housed within the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit, to identify those involved in the child pornography trade and those involved in the sexual exploitation of children. The ICAC Program, created by the U. S. Department of Justice, was developed in response to the increasing number of children and teenagers using the Internet, the proliferation of child pornography, and the heightened online activity by predators searching for unsupervised contact with underage victims.
