Peach County, GA (February 26, 2020) - On Wednesday, February 26, 2020, the GBI Region 13 Office secured additional arrest warrants in the death investigation of Anitra Gunn.

Through continued investigative acts and review of evidence, enough probable cause has been established to charge Jaivon Abron, age 22, with 2 counts of false statements and 1  count of concealing a death.  The warrants for the 2 counts of false statements were taken in Valdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia and the warrant for concealing a death has been taken in Peach County, Georgia.  Abron will be booked in the Peach County Jail prior to being transported to Lowndes County.  It should be noted that Abron and Demarcus Little are friends.     

This is still an active and ongoing investigation and we continue to follow leads and conduct investigative acts.  A phone has been recovered.  If the public has any information related to this case, please contact the Fort Valley Police Department, Peach County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Macon Crime Stoppers, or the GBI Region 13 Office.

Crawford County, GA (February 21, 2020) – On Friday, February 21, 2020, the GBI charged Demarcus Little, age 22, with one count of malice murder.  The investigation remains active and ongoing.  Anyone with information related to this murder investigation is urged to contact law enforcement.

Crawford County, GA (February 20, 2020) – On Thursday, February 20, 2020, an autopsy was completed on the body of Anitra LaShay Gunn at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Macon, Georgia.  The manner of death for Ms. Gunn is homicide.  Cause of death is pending the toxicology results.  The Task Force has been working this investigation as a homicide since Saturday, February 15, 2020.    

The search of the wooded area on Greer Road in Crawford, County, Georgia was completed on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.  A K9 search with article dogs was conducted and evidence was recovered.    

Numerous items of evidence are being reviewed and processed by the GBI Crime Lab.  The task force is still following up on leads and conducting interviews. 

Parts of Ms. Gunn’s 2013 Chevrolet Cruze have been recovered, but the white bumper still has not been located.  Law enforcement continues to ask the public for assistance in locating the white bumper and to contact law enforcement with any information concerning this case.

Crawford County, GA (February 19, 2020) - On Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at approximately 3:20 p.m., the body of a deceased female was discovered in a wooded area on Greer Road in Crawford County, Georgia, near the Peach County line.  The body was positively identified at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Medical Examiner’s Office in Macon, Georgia as Anitra Lashay Gunn on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.  

The investigation into Ms. Gunn’s disappearance was started on Friday, February 14, 2020, by the Fort Valley Police Department.  On Saturday, February 15, 2020, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist in processing a white, 2013, Chevrolet Cruze identified as belonging to Ms. Gunn. 

On Monday, February 17, 2020, a joint Task Force was started consisting of Fort Valley Police Department, Peach County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Valley State University Police Department, Bibb County District Attorney’s Office, and the GBI Perry Office.  Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit conducted an aerial search on Monday for Ms. Gunn. 

On Tuesday, ground searches were conducted in different locations in and around Peach and Crawford County.  During the search, a Peach County Investigator searched a wooded area and located the body of Ms. Gunn. Numerous leads and investigative acts have been followed and continue to be followed.  Evidence that has been collected to this point will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for further testing.   

Demarcus Little, the boyfriend of Gunn, has been arrested on unrelated charges.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, February 20, 2020 to determine the cause and manner of death.   

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office has joined the Task Force.  Crawford County Sheriff Lewis Walker has requested the GBI to conduct the investigation.
