Cumming, GA (October 25, 2019) - On Friday, October 25, 2019, at approximately 4:20 AM, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an officer involved shooting investigation at Georgia Highway 369 and Raines Drive.
At approximately 3:20 AM, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for assistance from a female who reported that her ex-husband, Anthony Viadero, 31, of Cumming, was at her home in violation of a temporary protective order. Ultimately, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office located Viadero and a pursuit ensued. Stop sticks were successfully deployed and eventually Viadero stopped his vehicle. Viadero exited his vehicle with a gun pointed at the officers. Viadero quickly advanced on the officer directly behind him with his gun drawn, despite verbal commands. One officer fired at Viadero, striking him. Aid was given to Viadero and he was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment. Viadero was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
An autopsy was performed today at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur.
Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be provided to the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit District Attorney for review.
