Kennesaw, GA (September 30, 2019) – On Sunday, September 29, 2019, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Kennesaw Police Department to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 6:20 p.m., Kennesaw PD officers were dispatched to 2629 Lone Oak Trail, Kennesaw, GA to conduct a welfare check. Upon arriving at the residence and meeting with the occupants, Kennesaw PD encountered a male occupant, identified as Robert Thrash, 31, in the basement with an object in his hands. Thrash failed to comply with officers' commands. One officer fired his weapon, striking Thrash. Thrash was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation. Once complete, it will be turned over to the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
