Sparta, GA (September 3, 2019) –  On  Monday, September 2, 2019, at approximately 3:10 a.m., the Eatonton Police Department, Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Darius Jermon Reaves, age 18, at his home in Eatonton, Georgia for the crime of Aggravated Assault. 

On Monday, September 2, 2019, at approximately 12:07 a.m., a Sparta Police Officer conducted a traffic stop in Sparta, Georgia for a motor vehicle violation. While on the traffic stop, a Sparta police officer identified two victims, Eani Walton, age 16, from Eatonton, Georgia and Robert Williams, age 33, from Siloam, Georgia, both of whom sustained gunshot wounds. During the traffic stop, individuals inside the vehicle provided information that a shooting occurred on Library Drive in Sparta, Hancock County, Georgia and identified the shooter as Darius Reaves.  Hancock County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Sparta Police Department officers responded to the area and secured the scene. Walton and Williams were transported to Medical Center Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.  

At approximately 12:50 a.m., the GBI was requested to assist the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed Reaves was at a party on Library Drive in Sparta, where his ex-girlfriend, Eani Walton, and Robert Williams were also at the party. Reaves shot Walton and Williams and left the scene. 

Reaves was later transported to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office where he is currently being housed at the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. 

The agencies who assisted with this investigation include the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Sparta Police Department, Eatonton Police Department, Milledgeville Police Department, and the Navicent Health Police.
