GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Riverdale
Riverdale, GA (July 23, 2019) – On Tuesday, July 23, 2019, the Riverdale Police Department requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to conduct an officer involved shooting investigation.
Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 11:18 a.m., Riverdale Police Department officers were dispatched to the Home Depot located at 680 Lamar Hutcheson Parkway, Riverdale, Clayton County, GA in reference to a suspected shoplifter inside the store. When officers arrived, they made contact with a male subject, identified as Terry Bradshaw, 42, of Griffin, GA, as he was exiting the store. Bradshaw was given commands to stop but continued to his vehicle. A physical altercation occurred between one of the officers and Bradshaw. Bradshaw jumped into his truck and began driving away. During the encounter, an officer discharged his weapon, striking the Bradshaw. Officers rendered first aid on the scene. Bradshaw was transported to Atlanta Medical Center where he is in serious condition. Both officers involved sustained minor injuries.
The GBI will continue its independent investigation. Once complete, it will be turned over to the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office for review.
