Atlanta, GA (June 12, 2019) – On Tuesday, June 11, 2019, troopers with the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) and agents of the GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office arrested three individuals in Gwinnett County, Georgia. These arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into subjects trafficking marijuana via the I-85 corridor from Metro Atlanta north to neighboring states. The three were arrested following a traffic stop by GSP near the Hamilton Mill Road exit on I-85 northbound.

Arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana were:

  • Phetprasong Souriyo, 34, of Charlotte, NC
  • Brandy Souriyo, 28, of Charlotte, NC
  • Somphone Thongkhamdy, 30, of Charlotte, NC

Agents seized approximately 70 lbs. of marijuana with an estimated street value of more than $200,000.00.
