Toccoa, GA (October 24, 2018) – On Wednesday, October 24, 2018, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Valonta Jamal Ochari Cantrell, 26, of Cornelia, for the August 2017 shooting of a female resident of 614 S. Pond Street Toccoa, Georgia. Cantrell was charged with one count of aggravated assault. 

During the early morning hours of August 10, 2017, an individual broke into the residence of 614 S. Pond Street, Toccoa, Georgia and shot a female in the living room of the residence. The female was shot multiple times and was transported to the hospital for treatment. This case has been under investigation since that time by the Toccoa Police Department and the GBI. 

Cantrell was arrested today without incident by the GBI and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office at his residence in Cornelia, Georgia. Cantrell will be housed in the Stephens County Jail.  Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be provided to the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney for prosecution.
